Important things to know:
Success:
Playing a musical instrument requires setting long term goals. It is strongly recommended that students commit to playing a musical instrument for the entire school year.
Responsibility:
Students must bring their instrument and stand to all lessons and band rehearsals.
Students are responsible for keeping a daily practice chart.
Students should practice a minimum of 3-4 days a week for 20-25 minutes each day.
Students are responsible for completing any missed class work that occurs during their instrumental music lesson.
Concert/Rehearsal Attendance:
Lessons occur during the school day throughout the year.
Band occurs before school.
- Second year students have band throughout the year.
- First year students will not join band until mid-year.
Attendance at all band rehearsals/concerts is mandatory. Absence due to illness requires a note from the student’s parent/guardian. All other conflicts should be addressed to the child’s instrumental music teacher in writing at least one week prior to the concert.
